“I have been Eleanor’s client for more than a year now. Because of a combination of sport and occupational activities, I developed back ache which flares up every time I have had a long day at work. Thanks to Eleanor, I have this now under control most days. She provides an excellent holistic service and via a range of suitable therapies, has aimed to provide me with the best treatment/s to relieve me of my problems. She has also been very flexible with my days and times, and many a time has seen me at very short notice, despite her busy schedule. Her prices are also very reasonable. I am extremely thankful to her.” Dr Ruth Shanbhag, Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Remedial massage is a therapeutic deep tissue massage that can treat specific health issues, musculoskeletal problems and injuries. It encourages complete healing, and effectively removes the scar tissue remaining after old injuries, thereby reducing repeat injuries. Treatment is sometimes uncomfortable or painful, but I will work within your tolerance levels.
Regular massage ensures that unnoticable small injuries are treated before they start to reduce performance. This treatment can be used as an injury prevention technique as well as a treatment for injuries.
All parts of the body are connected. Someone with a sprained ankle will favour the injured leg, causing muscles in the hip and lower back to tighten. This in turn can cause an imbalance in the back affecting the neck muscles, causing a headache. Treating the neck muscles in isolation will not alleviate the problem.
Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often helped by remedial massage include whiplash, frozen shoulder, arthritis, muscular cramps and sports injuries.
Organic Pregnancy Massage
Regular massage during pregnancy can help to:
- relieve muscle aching and soreness, reduce sciatica, lower back and pelvic pain (SPD)
- reduce nausea and morning sickness
- stimulate blood circulation, thereby improving the supply of oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and to your baby
- reduce stress on weight-bearing joints by restoring postural balance
- deepen breathing and improve shortness of breath
- reduce fluid retention and oedema
- improve digestion, constipation and heartburn
- reduce stress, tension and anxiety, elevate your mood and create a feeling of wellbeing
- reduce leg cramps and improve sleep
- prepare you physically, mentally and emotionally for the birth of your baby
- reduce complications during labour
- improve the body’s healing and boost energy levels after birth
“I’d like to say a big thank you for keeping me so relaxed during my pregnancy. During my visits (6 in total) you managed to eliminate my very painful sciatica and decreased the heartburn I was suffering from. I will definitely book some more sessions after my baby is born.” Debby, Hypnotherapist
Massage has a powerful ability to sedate and restore the nervous system, aiding deep relaxation. Studies have shown that being stressed during pregnancy predisposes mothers and babies to complications such as hypertension, premature labour, low-birth weight, delayed cognitive development and childhood behaviour problems.
Eleanor Rees has undertaken specialist training to work with pregnant women. Your treatment will combine massage with acupressure techniques and aromatherapy (if desired) to treat you holistically, and improve your comfort and health during pregnancy. All the oils used are Certified Organic to ensure they contain no harmful chemicals and are the most potent therapeutic grade available.
Sports Massage
Regular sports massage can help to:
- improve range of motion, suppleness and flexibility of muscles and joints, resulting in improved power and performance
- improve blood circulation, thereby maximising the supply of oxygen and nutrients to your tissues
- enhance elimination of the metabolic byproducts of exercise
- reduce recovery time between workouts
- relieve pain and reduce swelling
- speed up the healing of damaged or stressed muscles, tissues and joints
- reduce the chance of muscle and tendon injuries
- maintain the body in generally better condition
- extend the overall life of your sporting career
The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to alleviate the stress and tension that builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur due to over-exertion and overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. Massage helps to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Sports massage can help to prevent those niggling injuries that so often affect performance and achievement, whether you are a competitive athlete or a once a week jogger.
